I’m getting more serious about overnight camping and short backcountry trips, and I’m trying to tighten up my food security. Last weekend I had raccoons around the site and something small (mouse?) got into a snack bag I left in my pack for like 10 minutes. No one got hurt, but it was a wake-up call.
I’m not asking for “how to fight animals” or anything like that—more like best practices: where to store food, what containers work, whether hanging a bag is still the move, and what to do in areas with bears vs just nuisance critters. Also curious how you handle trash and cooking smells when you’re trying to keep a low profile and run a clean camp. What’s your go-to system?
