I’m a civilian shooter and I’ve recently started taking my rifle out more often (range days, sometimes dusty outdoor bays). I’m trying to build a solid routine for maintenance and storage without overdoing it or damaging anything.
What’s your process for maintaining and caring for rifles—cleaning frequency, what parts you focus on, how you prevent rust, and how you store them long-term? I’m also confused about how much lube is “too much,” and whether I should do a deep clean every time or only occasionally. I’m looking for realistic, field-practical advice (and safety reminders are welcome).
