I’m trying to get more disciplined about my medical kit upkeep instead of just stuffing it in a bag and forgetting it. I’ve got a small IFAK on my belt for range days and a bigger first-aid pouch that lives in my truck. The problem is stuff gets crushed, tape dries out, I find wrappers sticky from heat, and I’m never sure what “maintenance” actually looks like beyond checking expiration dates.
What’s a realistic routine to maintain and care for medical kits so they stay usable? How often do you inspect, how do you keep things organized, and what do you do about heat/cold, moisture, and keeping packaging intact? I’m not looking for medical instructions—more like gear discipline and storage habits so the kit is ready when needed.
