I’m putting together a small “gray man” sustainment kit for day hikes and occasional overnights. I’m not trying to live off the land, but I do want a plan B if I’m stuck near a creek or lake.
Question for the group: how do you improvise fishing equipment in a realistic way with stuff you might already have (or find) without carrying a full rod/reel setup? I’m thinking line, a couple hooks, maybe a float, but I’m also curious about improvised hooks/lures, simple rigs, or even passive methods. I’d rather hear what actually works than the movie stuff. Also any safety/legal considerations you keep in mind would help.
