Had a real wake-up call last weekend. We were out in a rural area (not extreme wilderness, but definitely spotty coverage) and a storm knocked out power. Cell service went from “meh” to basically useless, and even texting was delayed or failed.
I realized I don’t have a solid plan for staying in touch with family/friends if the network is down or overloaded. I’m not looking for anything shady—just normal emergency preparedness and maybe some ideas that are actually realistic for regular people.
What do you use when networks fail? Radios? Preplanned meetups? Signal plans? I’d love to hear what works in practice and what’s just internet fantasy.
