I’m 19 and planning to enlist within the next 6–12 months. I’m not totally out of shape, but I’m not “military fit” either. Right now I can jog a couple miles slowly, do maybe 20-ish pushups on a good set, and my pull-ups are weak (sometimes 1–2, sometimes none depending on the day). I also work part-time and I’m trying to build a plan I can stick to without getting injured.
What’s the best way to prepare physically for military service if I don’t know my exact job yet? I’m looking for a simple structure: what to train (running vs lifting vs bodyweight), how many days a week, and how to progress. Also: do I need to train with a rucksack, and how do I do that safely? Any advice on what recruiters/boot camp instructors actually expect would help.
