I’m trying to improve my push-up performance for a military-style fitness test. Right now I can hit about 25 clean reps in one set before my form breaks down (hips start sagging and my elbows flare). My goal is 45–50 in a single timed set within the next couple months.
I work a desk job, train 3–4 days/week, and I’ve mostly been doing “max set once in a while” instead of a real plan. I don’t have access to a full gym every day—mostly a floor, a pull-up bar, and some bands. Any advice on programming (frequency/volume), form cues, and what accessories actually carry over? Also, do you guys recommend strict chest-to-deck push-ups or the faster test-style reps when training?
