I keep seeing the F-22 vs F-35 argument everywhere and it’s always people talking past each other. I’m not in the military—just an aviation nerd who follows defense news and watches way too many interviews and documentaries.
If you had to answer it like a real forum debate: which is actually “superior” and in what sense? I get that the F-22 is the air-to-air king and the F-35 is more multirole, but when people say “superior” do they mean dogfight, BVR, stealth, sensors, survivability, or overall mission success?
I’d love takes that separate hype from reality: training, maintenance, availability, weapons, datalinks, and how modern air combat actually plays out. Assume peer conflict and also the more common day-to-day deterrence missions. Which jet would you rather have, and why?
