I keep seeing takes online saying “tanks are dead” because of cheap drones, top-attack missiles, and all the footage from recent conflicts. But then I also read that armored units still matter for breaking through, holding ground, and protecting infantry.
I’m not military, just a hobby reader (and a bit of a strategy-game nerd). If we’re looking 10–30 years out, could tanks actually become obsolete, or is it more like they’re evolving into a different role with more active protection, better sensors, and drone support? I’m curious what people here think from history, tech, and real-world experience.
