I’m putting together a simple, no-frills home setup and I keep seeing sandbag workouts pushed as “functional” and “military style.” I’ve got limited space and I don’t want a full barbell setup right now. My goals are better work capacity and strength that carries over to rucking, stairs, and general job fitness (not trying to be a powerlifter).
Are sandbag workouts actually effective for building strength and conditioning, or is it mostly hype? Also curious what weights people recommend starting with, and whether they beat kettlebells/dumbbells for overall military fitness.
