I’m trying to decide if “premium” uniforms are actually worth paying extra for, or if it’s mostly branding. I’m not talking about parade dress stuff—more like modern field uniforms (BDU-style cuts, ripstop, reinforced knees, better stitching, better Velcro/zippers, etc.).
Context: I do a mix of weekend range time, hiking/land nav events with friends, and some volunteer SAR support where I’m outside a lot. I’ve been rotating two budget sets and they’re fine, but I’m noticing fraying around pockets and the knees get shiny fast. I’m tempted by the higher-end options that claim better fabric blends, NIR compliance, and more durable construction.
If you’ve owned both, did the premium set actually last longer or feel better in the field? Or is it smarter to buy two or three mid-tier sets and treat them as consumables?
